Not that I'm defending her -- children get abducted in far less time than that boy was alone (although we don't know how far away his mother really was during that time, we must assume that she wasn't actually watching him in any way). Meanwhile, where was the staff? Not one person watching over the mandala? Dumb. I don’t think the kid’s mom even noticed what he’d done, to be honest.
